Beyond Venice

Lismore Friendship Festival’s, Beyond Venice, fundraiser exceeds expectations

Lismore Friendship Festival’s ‘Beyond Venice’ held Saturday 17th February was a resounding success with an impressive turnout of over 130 enthusiastic attendees. The Lismore Workers Sports Club played host, treating guests to a delectable 4-course dinner that delighted the senses and set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Domenico Taraborrelli and his son Marco (from The Latin Mafia Band) added a touch of authentic Italian charm to the event, entertaining the crowd with a repertoire of lively Italian songs. The dance floor was in constant use. The highlight of the night was when the infectious energy led everyone to join a conga line, weaving its way around the tables and creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.

“The success of ‘Beyond Venice’ is a testament to the incredible spirit of our community. It’s heartening to witness the support and enthusiasm that our friends and neighbours bring to these events,” said Gianpiero Battista, President of the Lismore Friendship Festival Inc, the organisation behind the event.

The fundraising efforts were equally triumphant, with ticket sales and various raffles contributing to over $3000 raised. These funds will play a crucial role in supporting the organisation’s initiatives.

The Lismore Friendship Festival extends heartfelt gratitude to the Lismore Workers Sports Club and their staff for their generous support and commitment to making the evening truly special. The success of ‘Beyond Venice’ underscores the community’s dedication to coming together for a good cause and showcases the power of unity in achieving positive outcomes. We really appreciated everyone who came, dressed up and danced.

Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation behind the event particularly Julie De Nardi and Nancy Gava. We were lucky once again to have Peter Derrett take some fabulous photos.

The next Beyond Venice will be held 17 February 2025.
